Week after week this spring, I have cancelled outdoor events due to pouring rain. This week, I was determined to get outside, regardless of what Mother Nature had in mind. With this attitude of perseverance, a few of us went for a 'Rain Hike'.
While you might not normally be inclined to head outside for a hike in torrential downpours, I encourage you to consider it next time, because hiking in this kind of weather offers a couple unique sights.
The first benefit of a rain hike is SLUGS! Kayla & Julia helped to keep count of the slugs that we saw on the way out and we even named a few of them. But by the time we were leaving, the slugs were coming out in hordes and we lost count somewhere around 20!
The girls thought that finding, naming, and petting slugs was entertaining. However, if this is not your form of entertainment, you might've appreciated the waterfalls that were pouring out of the hills and under the trail. We stopped at many spots to admire the spring flows.
Kudos to Robin, Kayla, Julia, and Melissa for getting out...despite weather, traffic, and bad moods. :)

a true Betty maneuver...
coercing the little ones along (i.e. carrying them!)

it was raining so hard that I couldn't get a non-blurry shot!

Enjoying the waterfalls
